Emily McLaughlin (Book Binder) from Oklahoma City chose to write about a topic thatis close to her heart, a special bond that she and her father share: everything being labeledwith Mac. Her favorite part of the writing process was reminiscing about her dad andreliving many cherished memories. If she could have a superpower, it would beinvisibility, allowing her to listen in on many conversations.

TMI Episcopal's 2023-2024 AP Lang Class

Alice Bilbrey here. This year-long project in my AP English Language and Composition course is inspired by John Green’s book The Anthropocene Reviewed, and if you're not already familiar you should read it! My students began by carefully analyzing Green’s chapters, creating their own criteria for what an Anthropocene review consists of, and writing their unique reviews on topics of their choosing. Those were the “easy” steps, and we could have stopped there. But we didn't.

Publishing this book and the accompanying podcast would not have happened without these excellent 28 students and their dedication to the end goal. I presented them with the vision, but they are the ones who made it happen. Each individual took true ownership of their job (credited in their author bios), and they all worked as a team to make it happen. Each and every aspect of what you are about to read/listen to represents the careful thought and work of the AP Lang students - from word choice, formatting, and editing to the original podcast music, and even the order in which their reviews are presented - and so much more. They innovated. They problem-solved. They spent hours, both in and out of class, working on these publications while also finishing challenging coursework and AP exams in Lang and other classes, not to mention their extra-curricular activities.
